A tip from one mom to another

Read the guide before you hand her the book. There's nothing in it to hide from her. It's simply easier to answer her first question when you already know where it's coming from.

You're not the only one wondering

Questions Moms Ask

When should I start the talk, and how?

You don't need a perfect speech. The Guide for Moms gives you easy ways to start the talk for each part of the book, so the first words are already there.

She's only eight. Isn't this too early?

Some girls notice the first changes sooner than their moms expect. The book starts with those first signs, in words an eight-year-old can read on her own. The Guide for Moms lists the moments when it's worth calling her doctor.

Will the book talk about sex?

No. You won't find sex, pregnancy, crushes, dating, or gender topics. Babies come up in one sentence, at question 35, about what the uterus is for. The Guide for Moms explains what we left out and why.

How do I talk about it without making her feel ashamed?

The book calls every body part by its name and explains it all the way through, calmly. When faith comes in, it's to remind her that God made her body good. There are no rules or guilt about her body.

What if she won't tell me when it comes?

Some girls find it easier to write it than to say it. One part of the book helps her bring her questions to you, and the Period Prep Pack has ready-made cards she can hand you.

Is it really a Christian book?

Yes. Every part closes with a Bible verse and a short prayer. Inside the answers, faith comes in gently, a line at a time, never as a lecture.
